Eckseption

Art as Connection, Healing, and Civic Imagination

Statement

I am LeeAndra Lujan, better known as Eckseption. A multidisciplinary artist from Denver, Colorado, combining painting, pyrography, illustration, portraiture, and installation. I have a fascination with perceptual diversity and how that influences each individual uniquely; to show this in my work, I merge figures with symbolic imagery using a bold, illustrative style and repetitive abstract or geometric patterns. These complex, layered works are inspired by my life experiences, and I often use myself as the subject, bordering on autobiographical realism and the subconscious symbolism. My goal is to interact with viewers’ physical and psychological perceptions.

My body of work reflects my personal practice of self-awareness, with the use of mirrors, the work can reach out to the community seeking relational and cognitive understanding of an inclusive vision. My portraits utilize the mutual gaze, breaking the boundary between the artwork and the viewer, encouraging both knowledge of self and acknowledgement of others. Through the burned, tactile nature of pyrography, I aim to illustrate a shared energy and utilize symbolic archetypes to connect the theme of interconnectedness between individual human experiences and collective unity.

In my experience, I felt at one point that my whole life was tragically fated and laid out, that there were no options available to me. What I learned is that through my choices, determination, self-reflection, and personal growth, I became the “exception” to what was a pre-determined “rule.” Therefore, the intended message of my art is to encourage others to “make the exception” to focus on personal growth, to be empowered to take ownership of their lives and to contribute to the world in positive ways.

Bio

I have contributed to gallery exhibitions, art markets, taught workshops and collaborated on murals and brand/marketing design in Denver and Aurora. I am driven by a deep interest in art-based civic engagement and the transformative power of creative community spaces. My commitment to social impact is rooted in my experiences within resource centers and community studios supporting individuals experiencing homelessness or instability. There, I encourage the practice of self-awareness through creative practice and help build pathways toward stability through collaborative art programs.

As a Core Artist at RedLine Contemporary Art Center, I earned a scholarship to pursue my BFA at Rocky Mountain College of Art & Design. I am an active contributor to my art community, participating in RedLine’s annual exhibitions and supporting the REACH community studios. I currently serve as Coordinator of the REACH Satellite Studio at Nest 56 in RiNo District, in collaboration with TGTHR, where I help provide young adults and the surrounding Five Points neighborhood with opportunities for creative expression, personal growth, and meaningful connection. I aspire to open a community studio dedicated to providing opportunities, resources, and mentorship for artists with similar backgrounds. My goal is to create a supportive and inclusive space that nurtures artistic growth, self-expression, and collaboration. Through this studio, I hope to give back to the community that once uplifted me and to empower others to find healing and purpose through art.

BRILLIANCE OF UNRULY MINDS A Salon of Marks and Memory

An exhibition where thought refuses to sit still.

Brilliance of Unruly Minds brings together a salon-style gathering of artists whose work is built from gesture, repetition, fragmentation, intuition, and trace. This is a space where marks become language, where memory is not preserved, but actively reimagined.

Here, brilliance is not polished or predictable. It is layered, restless, emotional, and alive in process.

From drawn lines to stitched surfaces, from painted movement to embedded histories, each work functions as evidence of an inner world unfolding outward. The salon becomes an archive of what cannot be neatly spoken: sensation, inherited memory, identity, rupture, and becoming.

This is not a quiet exhibition.

It is an accumulation of minds in motion.

A field of marks.

A chorus of memory.

A gathering of unruly brilliance.

Cognitive Curiosity

A Solo Exhibition by Myra Nagy - Chacalit

Presented at RedLine Contemporary Art Center REACH Satellite Studio at Nest 56

Cognitive Curiosity is a contemplative exploration of abstraction, identity, and the deeply personal language of mark making. Through an expansive body of work utilizing multiple printmaking techniques, mixed media processes, layering, and textile influence, artist Myra Nagy, also known as Chacalit, invites viewers into a visual experience rooted in movement, memory, and human uniqueness.

At the heart of this exhibition is the idea that abstract marks function much like fingerprints, individual, instinctive, and impossible to duplicate. Every gesture, texture, impression, and layered surface becomes evidence of the artist’s hand, presence, and lived experience. Just as no two fingerprints are alike, no abstract composition can ever truly be recreated by another person. The works become records of motion, emotion, and intuition.

The exhibition also examines the psychological experience of viewing abstract art. Unlike representational imagery, abstraction interrupts automatic visual recognition, compelling the brain to slow down and actively interpret what it sees. Rather than offering immediate answers, these works encourage inquiry. Viewers are invited to search for patterns, emotions, movement, and meaning within the layers, activating what the artist describes as “cognitive curiosity”, a deeper form of engagement where interpretation becomes personal, intellectual, and emotionally intuitive.

Through color, repetition, texture, and experimental print processes, Cognitive Curiosity challenges viewers to embrace uncertainty, trust perception, and reflect on the unique marks we each leave behind.

Learn more about the artist!

Drawing inspiration from the streets, reclaimed materials, outdoor environments, and the people within her community, Nagy transforms discarded and everyday elements into compositions filled with energy and meaning. Her practice merges printmaking, collage, textiles, and abstraction to create tactile works that celebrate resilience, reinvention, and beauty within overlooked spaces.
